The Projects
The Elemental Project is a collaboration between two modern day adventurers. Photographer Mark Humpage and TV Producer Alister Chapman will be seeking out the most spectacular natural events from around the world, whilst addressing Climate Change. Their aim is to bring nature's extreme to life with stunning photographs and spectacular HD video.
Northern Lights - Arctic Circle, Norway
The Northern lights is a natural phenomenon Mark and Alister have always desired to experience. It has a magical almost mythical surrounding that has been witnessed by few people in all her glory. The Vikings thought they were contrails from Thor's chariot pulled by three goats. The adventurers wanted to be included on this elite list and seek out Thor's chariot. Mark and Alister brave the odds, the wild arctic weather and travel to the Northern Territories of Norway as they attempt to witness and capture the Northern Lights.
Tornado Project - Tornado Alley, Great Plains, USA
Mark & Alister head off to the Plains of Tornado Alley in search of tornadoes. Their aim is to hunt down, photograph and record the most violent storms on this planet including tornadoes, supercell thunderstorms, huge hail and intense lightning. The trip will be an elemental adventure ride of a lifetime.
Extreme Heat Project - Arizona, USA
The adventurers head off to the scorching deserts of Arizona for the start of the monsoon season. They will witness the unique and massive movement of moisture flowing into the desert landscape resulting in intense flash flooding, huge electrical thunderstorms, incredible haboobs (fast moving dust storms) combined with extreme temperatures. It's so hot you can make instant sun tea and hot water comes out of both taps! They aim to phtograph and record every minute of this incredible cyclic phenomenon.
Hurricane Project - Atlantic, USA
Follow Mark & Alister as they track and pursue an active Atlantic Hurricane as it makes landfall. The adventurers will be planning the trip from their UK base and forecasting the projected path of the storm. They will then fly out and target the eye of a named 100 mile wide monster storm. With sustained winds in excess of 100 mph the adventurers will get 'inside' the hurricane capturing the entire event as the storm strikes, stretching infrastructure and human endeavour to the full.
